Truth. And terribly misleading to a bunch of people who haven't become savvy to that game.
Much as I have some appreciation for RJ's contribution (if they could be abbreviated), I hope CMac & co find a way to nuke gameplayers like that.

On further thought, it just reinforces the weirdness that some ST members have about this place.
Your persona is one of rabid, constant posting & ranting, which creates the impression you really don't have anything to do with your life....you get nuked because you are regularly over the line with those posts....then you spend a sh#t-ton of time & energy figuring out ways to come back and make the same kinds of rants....
Some of these people are quite disturbing (-ed).

for what it's worth I usually found rox to be OK. He was often helpful - when I moved to tucson I appreciated his insights (like "don't get a gun - you don't know who to point it at yet!"). He certainly has the climbing history worthy of the taco. but the laws of understanding discretion caught up with him I suppose.
I care less about his content and what got him banned and more about the fact that he was escorted to the door. All of those that got the boot would return and act the same. See, for example, fattrad.
so those asking they be allowed to return get zero support from me. it's only a matter of time before fatrad gets the boot and I'd think he'd realize he's on his last life.
there's a simple word for it. Respect.

The elephant in the room that no one seems to be talking about is Rox's mental health.
At times, he is just being rude and trying to incite a response. At other times, it is pretty obvious that he is manic to a degree that could probably be diagnosed and treated with medication. To be fair, there are a few other posters on this site that are a little "whacky" and use this site as a tool to reinforce their delusions (I'm talking about you, Fatty). However, Rox is one of the more obvious examples of someone who has some serious issues.
Over the internet it is sometimes hard to differentiate between a very rude person and someone who is dealing with some form of mental illness. I often find myself wanting to tell Rox to STFU, and sometimes do. At other times I feel bad for him and genuinely want him just to get help. Either way, I don't think that this forum (or any internet forum) is a healthy place for Rox. Inevitably, if allowed to continue to post here, his antisocial behavior and posting frequency will escalate, and the quality of the site suffers as a result.
In the end, nothing I am going to say is going to be of help to Rox. Also, nothing I am going to say, rude or nice, is going to get him to change his behavior. When all is said and done I just want him to go away.

As I said, I think you are delusional, like Walter Mitty, and I think that your incessant posting to non-political threads makes this site less enjoyable. This is the way it was explained to me. Not certain if that is what they decided to do as I wasn't in on the final decision. The first person to have the whack-a-mole decided he didn't want to do it anymore. So this was the solution.
Nature doesn't have the button all the time. It is a roving whack-a-mole button that Chris decided to try out. Select people get it on a roving basis. The last I heard the plan was to have it rove and if three people click the button on a post, then that post is deleted, and the same thing with a person. Chris still has ultimate authority as he decides when a person is up for the whack-a-mole, but he added this just to see how it works. This was decided as a something to try to see if some of the negativity can be cleared out.
If you see a red button next to a persons ID, then click it if you want them whacked.

Its new... and not everyone has been selected to be a whack-a-mole. Since the original whack-a-mole doesn't post much anymore, they bowed out. Plus the way I understand it is is roves among a group of people. so even if you are on the list to be a whack-a-mole, you might not get the button for a particular person. Plus Chris doesn't want to whack a bunch of people. He is hoping that people will get the message and police themselves.
Chris explained that he would listen to appeals from those whacked. Though I understand that LEB might have burned her last bridge.

I'm not sure I gloated over Rox's ousting. On the contrary, I've been consistent in stating I didn't really even know why it happened.
LEB, on the other hand.... like most of us... I threw a party.
Though I have to admit things were getting ugly around here and so when CMac went whacking away I thought it a good idea. But from a personal point of view I never thought Rox should be sent packing. LEB, yes. skipt - earned it. wes, I probably understand that and to be honest wes is probably much better off as he can focus on his dissertation. Then there is fatty - my buddy.
and rox did send me a nice silver friendship ring. Too bad I have to melt it down and make tips for the arrows of my large dart gun.

and when one creates a new avatar/identity, and posts from the deactivated IP address,
then the web site's computer "catches" it after 3 or so new posts
and then bingo, automatic deactivation again
One could keep creating new avatars, posting, being "banned" indefinitely, in theory
Now, if one went to say Starbucks and moved around, then the job of catching and deactivating would be tougher
But WHY WHY WHY would LEB or Rox or anyone BANNED actually want to come back

I’m wondering if these recent identities are all Rokjox. Earlier in the thread "The Zombie" and "Death Seeks Geeks" seemed to be his writing.
I received an email from a forum friend saying she doubted they were Rox and thought some or all could be someone burlesquing Rox again.
I think Rox would protest adamantly if that were the case(…if he knows.)

I don't know guys...I must respectfully disagree about "juar".
"Juar" has been here a while. If you look at juar's posts from his/her beginning there's a dissimilar syntactic structure and contrasting vocabulary to Rox...a different world view.
In the end, these arbitrary bannings of long time members are going to provoke more chaos and agitation than they resolve.

All were apparently banned without advisement of infractions of any codes of conduct.
A judge can't make arbitrary decisions--he must follow rules of law. Dictators are arbitrary rulers.
I don't like referencing CMac and RJ in that context as they make the forum available to us. But bannings without an apprising and definition of infractions is certainly arbitrary.

One option A) would be when posts get really bad, start a dialogue. Write out emails that detail how people have been inappropriate and remind people what the forum policy is and what the rules are. Give two week bans. Follow up. Repeat when the person tries to push the edge again. Generally spend time policing.
But the other option, B) that so far we think works best, is to keep a pretty open forum. Tolerate some stuff in the gray area, but when things go CLEARLY over the line, ban the account.
The problem with the policing model is it takes lots of time. We are a tiny company. We work on a shoe-string budget to make the site as good as we can. There are a lot of things we want to do to improve the site to make it better for you all. If we spent time policing the forum, it would take away from that.
Cmac had another post on February 10, that laid out his policy and goals. And there have been other discussions over the years when other moles were whacked.
