Nice bike, Hardman.
I'll be riding my recumbent in the century on Saturday. (stand-by for a pic)
82 mi. Sunday, a fast 50 yesterday, getting ready for an easy 50 today, then 2 days rest.
The century is in Flagstaff. I'm afraid we're going to get dumped on. Nothing like a torrential hail storm to spice up your ride . . .

One thing I know, I'll be sore after this ride, but not nearly as sore as those who ride a conventional road bike.
I have a distinct disadvantage on steep hills since I can't stand up and use my weight and upper body. 100% leg power.
However, all things being equal, it is easier to achieve and maintain a higher speed on flats and down hills.
We'll see how it goes, recumbents have been known to do quite well on longer rides.

Monday: 1.8mi; first run in over a year. Today, 3.5mi.
At this rate of increase, I figure my daily run a month from now will be 75,162mi. But I'm not sure I can keep it up.

^^^^ I love it when I'm on the steep part of the training curve . . .
I'm not done with my recumbent rant:
I'm giving up about 10 lbs on average to an upright. My bike weighs in a little over 30 lbs. That's with the steel frame.
Easy Racers also makes a carbon fiber(23 lbs), and the real dream machine, the titanium frame.
Check them out here: http://easyracers.com/tirush.html

Recumbants have at least two potentially fatal weakness.
1. Nobody can see you!!!
2. They accelerate so slowly that they can't get out of their own way.

Quick 20 minute run at an about 8 minute mile pace. Felt real good. Except for that in-n-out I had half an hour before.
We deal. Working on getting into alligator wrestling shape.

Mostly myths, especially acceleration. Its like Usain Bolt, not usually ahead in the first 10 - 20 meters, but that is more than made up for in short order.
I do think I'm going back to mountain biking after this. I hate trusting my life to knuckle heads. It really can be scary. I use a mirror and it helps a lot.

It's those first 10 meters that keep you out from under the bus.

I won't say this too loudly - but the heat broke a bit yesterday. I'm trying to train in heat right now since the Cascade Lakes Relay is coming up quickly.
Did 8 hilly miles yesterday with five hard 4 minute intervals. My legs are returning to life after that wicked 1/2 marathon on Sunday. I will try to double today 6 at lunch and 3 this evening. I need more speed. It is unnerving to be so much slower than I was. But that embarassment shouldn't cause me to quit, but to accept that a) I need to work harder and b) 56 is not 36.

Seamstress, be careful in that heat. Your speed will there in the fall when it cools down.

Joined the Rapha Rising: La Centième challenge (to climb 7235 meters (or 23,737') in 8 days during the Tour de France, in celebration of its 100th edition.
So far I've done 25,166', in 3 rides totaling 162 miles (Mon, Tues, and Wed, all solo). I couldn't ride on Sunday when it started, and I can't ride this coming Sunday, so when I CAN ride I'm trying to go big. ;-)

79 minutes of drinking beer followed by 5 minutes of scaring the squirrels, capped by a quick dinner and 3 hours of non-network TV. Tomorrow, I'm going to double that.

Yesterday. Seven mile Mtn bike ride, turtle rock trail variation w/ extra technical sections. Today will be aerobic rest day except for approaches (I think I've been nine days on, between running and biking.) Concentrating on climbing is the order of the day.

Nice Jaybro!
You ever hit that CurtGowdy MTB zone? Hella fun trails and the setting ain't to bad either. There is climbing out there as well, I'll bet you know all about it. When I lived in FoCo it was one of my favorite places and way better than most FrontRange shitaqua!
