We've got more pics to download and post but this one partly sums up the fun - my stomach muscles are sore from laughing, my feet are still swollen and fingertips torched. What a blast! So great to meet many of you and see friends not seen in a while. A special thanks to Bolton for nearly making me pee in my pants laughing all afternoon, Eau du Boog...!!!

(And Ray, Boogles sends his regards back to you - we'll add some pictures of the One Armed Bat (aka Danielle) tomorrow after some more sleep).

Off White, KP, BVB and Bolton

Also thank you to Jeff and Jenn (Mr. and Mrs. Salad) who welcomed all of us - friends and strangers alike - to their BBQ!!!

To the buds that were there that i didnt hook up with - todd gordon, tucker tech, rick piggot, adrian amondovar et al, sorry i missed you, dont be strangers!

To the many new friends i made, man, it was my pleasure. I felt instantly at home with everybody i met. Oh and Greg Cameron the man was every bit as good (if not better) than Greg Cameron, the legend. Hats off for showin us how its done Greg, it was great to meet you.

Ron, it's good to see you finally starting to come out of your shell...you did pretty well for such a shy kid...
But I know Everybody's Wondering...
Who's that dude on Jaws in the cool Flying Abyssinian T-shirt...
clue...he's covered with scrapes and bruises by now...
Jaws is proven to be NOT Scuff-proof...it's even been Munged
by now!!
There were people I was hangin with most of the day and I still
don't know who...
What a madhouse...
If I tried as hard on California Nights as I did on that thing
Grug showed me which may or may not be Hellraiser or the one on
the other side of it...my fingers would still be in that crack,
or maybe it would be up to hand-size by now...
Go climb a rockclimber!!!

Hey thanks, gonamok, it was fun hangin' with you, for sure. My only regrets are not being able to spend some more time with, uh, quite a few folks. I gotta say, I achieved one of my ulterior motives of jump starting my climbing season (I know some of you folks from California don't understand exactly what I mean by climbing season). I go years without doing offwidth, but over the last few days I must have done maybe 8 different Woodson offwidths, many of them twice. Lots of hand and fist, too. I feel that I can now go to the Black Canyon and get on hard wide with some confidence. Where else can you boulder offwidth and hand and fist cracks?

The part I forgot about (sort of)? how thrashed, abrasion-wise, I get doing the cracks at Woodson. I've never had the daintiest of climbing styles, and Woodson is unforgiving. My jump-started season may have to wait for me to heal.

Cheers to all of you who showed up. Kinley Adams is still the funniest person I know.

You know how people say they'd like to be a fly on the wall when
X and Y get together...
I WAS THAT FLY ON THAT WALL...
well, there were lots of walls and lots of flies on Woodson that
day.
My first chance in like 30 years to see Rob Muir climbing...I
remember what I thought when I first saw him..I hope I can
look that good some time

Guys/Gals,

What a pleasure to be able to tag along on such a great event. Thanks for letting me be a part of it.

Such a wonderful feeling seeing old friends re-unite, even if you didn't know em at the time. Warm Fuzzies all over the place.

I had a great time getting to know most of you and apologize to anyone that I didn't get to talk to at the Q, it was a wee bit crazy.

Scuffy_b's debacle was a blessing in disguise, it was a pleasure having him at our house Friday and Saturday night. His enthusiasm literally outshined the sun and I believe his radiant excitement played a direct part in the sudden rise in temperature Saturday. Pretty tricky sandbag Scuff! Tessa found some additional bugs last night and wanted me to call you over so she could show them 2 you.

Munge and Fueco - been over a year since I had seen you guys, thanks for making it down.

It was really cool getting to know Todd 'Super Dad' Gordon and Tucker as they should up a little early with the kiddies.

Special thanks to Jeff Leads and family for showing up early with an extra BBQ and the Prana schwag. Jeff's daughters were awesome babysitters with all of the kids.

Mike - Rita gave me her bandana on the way out, so please try and get one to her.

Todd - there is a hat and baby spoon here that I think belongs to you. Get me your address and I will mail it back.

Someone left a water bottle - let me know and I'll mail it back.

Did anyone leave a red Alaska hat around Robbin's? It was brought to the house and no one claimed it.

I have a little bit of video from the 'warm up' at Razor and Toaster, I'll have it up in a couple of days. I lost my OS and am re-installing software. Wish I could filmed some of the more burly ascents.

bvb,

I would not lie. Scouts honor.

When you guys left Jaws area, a group of us were still there climbing some more and hanging out talking. All of a sudden Rick and family come around the corner from Baby Robbins side and we were all stunned. Haven't seen him since maybe late '90s early 2000s.

Kinley Adams, Kinley's wife, Tom Gibson (PMBs) and a few others we were all there. Talk to Greg C. he met up with him also. I hope someone got a picture of all the "Poway Mountaineers" together at once. Rick P. and I shook hands and I said it has been along time. A picture was taken at that spot. I think Mrs. Adams took it.

Rick was himself. Very understated, and ghosting. We were all very surprised to see him. He said he wasn't climbing much any more since they closed his crag (Cave Rock). I thought he was going to hang around longer and maybe even hit the party, but I guess that is not his style.

Edit: By the way, they must have been climbing, Rick had his hands taped up as well as the young girl (daughter??) with him. They were a family of 3 or 4, can't remember.

It was really good to see them.

The red Bettles Air hat is mine, Salad. In which part of town do you work? Climb at any of the gyms after work? I'd swap belays with ya if you do.

I too had a great time. My brother's bachelor party was on Friday night, so I didn't even wake up 'till past the pre-arranged meeting time. I got to Woodson around noon and walked up to Robbins in the heat of the day sweating off a bunch of gin/tonics, jaegermeister, beer.

I got to briefly meet Klimmer, saw Tom & Kevin & ???. I joined Darren, Shawn & Brandon on Robbins, Baby Robbins, Jaws, Bat Crack. Met BVB over near Jaws. Thanks to Barnet & Epperson for use of their rope on the Cave. Good to see John, and Jochen and Robert, and meet Mike and Moria on the way out.

The highlight for me was a run up Test Tube after watching Greg float the thing. His key foot beta for the opening OW moves got me up within a move of the top.

On a typical Woodson I see maybe another party or two climbing. Cool to see so many people getting together enjoying all that Woodson has to offer.

It was nice to meet all of you.

And it was doubley nice to get on some of the ultra-classics that Woodson has to offer. I thoroughly enjoyed the climbing there even if the hot weather got to me just a little. Perhaps in the winter I will make another pilgrimage. I also learned just how much I need to hone my crack skills...

I will post some pictures once I have the time to transfer them to my computer... So sometime during the Sharks game tonight. =)

A big thank-you to Salad for hosting such a fine, and disreputable, group of Woodsonians!

All those in favor of doing it again in cooler weather, raise your hand:

And, just because we can, here's probably the premier Dad of the Day, Dick Shockley, on Baby Robbins:
