Two big plays that killed the Niners, among a few others, were the fourth down 51yd pass play conversion to Baldwin and special teams run back blunder. Plays that you just can't let happen.
I think officiating had little impact on the outcome even though it sucked across the boards.
The one big blown call when Bowman injured his knee was cancelled out two plays later by a Seattle turnover.
Seahawks beat 'em, plain and simple. They played just better enough to get the win.

Kap was more effective passing than with the team-rushing game (excepting his couple of scrambles). My point is that the vaunted Hawks' defense allowed HIM to move the ball passing. And he did throw some just ridiculously bone-headed passes that you won't see from Manning. Age and experience over youth and beauty every time. LOL
If Kap can move the ball passing, Manning can in spades (far better than "double"). And "doubling up" the Kap-passing stats doesn't get you 4 interceptions. It gets you 1 or less.
Passer rating? Okay, here's a few non-wiki points, all from http://www.milehighreport.com/2013/12/31/5255828/broncos-nfl-records-2013-peyton-manning ....
Most 90+ passer rating games.... Manning had 15 such games in 2013, tying the NFL record he set in 2004. Stretching back into 2012, Manning decimated the record for most consecutive 90+ passer rating games in the regular season with 23.
I don't get 86 out of that anywhere. You are looking at pre-Broncos stats, which are pretty meaningless to this present reality.
Passer Rating.... Manning shattered his old franchise mark of 105.8 by posting a mark of 115.1 in 2013.
2012 wasn't his all-time best season, but we're talking about this season. So, again, I don't see anything like an 86 being relevant to THIS present discussion.
Interception percentage (career).... Manning has thrown 21 interceptions over the course of 1242 attempts giving him an interception percentage of 1.69 besting the mark of 1.8 set by Hugh Millen in 1994-95).
Have I mentioned that Kap is NO Manning? The Hawks are not going to be able to expect to get the gimme interceptions that Kap handed them. Manning has the best read of a defense of any QB in history, and he also has the best feel for when to deliver the ball and where to put it of any QB in history. Bluntly, the Hawks just haven't had to defend against the ridiculous depth of weaponry that the Broncs are bringing.
Best defense against the best offense. This could be the best SB ever!
I'm chomping at the bit (pun intended).

Reilly's post was a post season QB rating. not season.. He hasn't shined that great in the post season.

So those stats don't include this season's postseason.
The bottom line is he's 12-11 in the post season with one ring. <YAWN>
And don't talk to me like I'm the Pelut of football, okay?

Wilson is going to have to complete some throws down the field. And more designed QB runs to keep the LBs honest. Let them blitz, and throw screens and slants. On D, anticipate those rubs and picks and really lay Decker or Welker out if/when they try it (perfectly legal within 1 yard of the LOS). That is Denver's bread and butter, disrupt it. Lots of blitz packages too, dropping back into coverage isn't going to help you stop Manning, hit him hard, get in his face. He's basically immobile.

Ahh... well, I have readily admitted that Manning's post-season record is really bad (tied for last in the NFL). That's a well-known fact. But, again, this season is a very different season indeed, and on many levels.
If you'll look back upthread, you'll see all the predictions of the terrible demise of the Broncos at the hands of the Pats, and these same stats were trotted out to support those predictions (including, of course, Manning's absolutely terrible record against the Pats). I don't hear those folks retracting anything now that the Broncs handily beat the Pats THIS post-season.
This is a different season, a history-making season. The Broncs have NEVER had such breadth and depth, and Manning is on a roll like no QB in history.
Twain said: "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics." And pointing to past stats to predict future events is always a sketchy endeavor. In this case, in particular, if you look at present realities and how the Hawks played yesterday, I'm feeling pretty good about Denver's offense against Seattle's defense. I predict more Serious Sam for Wilson, and I predict a level of pinpoint pass completions that have Denver scoring against Seattle like they cannot believe.
Of course, that is ALL predicated on Denver's defense playing as well or slightly better than they did yesterday, and on Manning playing like he CAN (which is, with him, always an open question).

Kap played well enough to probably beat any other team in the league. That first pick...idiotic for sure but any QB can make mistakes. Sometimes the best QBs (like Manning) make kind of a habit of forcing passes into tight coverage because most of the time they can. Or they throw with such velocity that balls get tipped or bounced around. Point is any QB can throw pics. Kap nearly won that game with his arm, just happened that Crabtree lost that battle in the end zone, lost position, Kap underthrew him, game over.
Manning will probably throw an INT unless he plays with the lead for the whole game. Trying to pass your way back into a game makes you much more vulnerable,

I think that's a really good summary-analysis, fluffy. Points well taken.
Again, though, Kap isn't Manning, and Kap almost won that game against the most vaunted defense in the NFL. The pass CAN win against Seattle, and if anybody can do it, Manning can.
That said, to me the funnest thing about watching football is seeing the myriad of tiny details that all have to go your way in order to put everything together for a win against a good team. I think this year's SB is going to be a full-blown STUDY in such things, for both teams.

Can't imagine a reasonable scenario where Manning and Co. don't win the SB. Team of destiny, team of immense talent, team that's really healthy, most of all a team that is playing as a team.
I'm just hoping for an entertaining game, SBs can be anticlimactic...we've endured some real snoozefests. Hell lets just hope there's no power outages.

So, a 37/13 win over the number 7 defense (by your list) means that Denver (now late in the season and MUCH better) is just going to be stymied by any "top five" defense? I'm not convinced.
I didn't see ANYTHING on the part of SF or Seattle yesterday leading me to think that either of those teams would pose a significant problem for Denver's offense. In fact, I'm happier that Denver plays Seattle, because I considered Kap's out-of-the-pocket threats to be huge! Whew... dodged a bullet there... thanks Seattle!

Even though I am neither a Fortywhiner nor Shechickens fan, I felt the Whiners got screwed by questionable officiating. Kaepernick should have been called upon to run more sweeps in the 2nd half; poor play calling combined with some lousy calls that went against SF were enough to derail the BART train on it's way to the SB!

What other "analysts" here at S-T haven't mentioned: NO ONE in football can read a defense better and make adjustments better than PM! Combine that ability with his quick release and accuracy, the SEACHICKENS ARE TOAST!! The two Thomas', (Julius and Demarius) are just too big and athletic to be handled by the Seattle secondary--or linebackers. Don't forget that Knowshon Moreno can catch and run, too. Meanwhile, Decker and Welker have to be covered. Heh, heh!

As "analyst" (LOL), I made that very point upthread:
"Manning has the best read of a defense of any QB in history, and he also has the best feel for when to deliver the ball and where to put it of any QB in history. Bluntly, the Hawks just haven't had to defend against the ridiculous depth of weaponry that the Broncs are bringing."
I'm not ready to call the Hawks "toast," but I think that Denver can bring it against this defense.
Edit: And, hey, what's more fun that being a Monday-morning-QB? It's part of the basic engagement with the game. :-)
