Largent was The Man - inch for inch and pound for pound the best receiver EVAH!
And a class act the whole way, especially off the field.

About 2.5 years ago I remember watching an aging Payton Manning on the NFL network hopping across the country looking for an owner to put a high price on him like some sort of an Antiques Roadshow. I think it is time to show him that this is...

Ronnie Lott hit that hard in practice. Ask the guys who played with him at Eisenhower High.

Such a flagrantly ridiculous comment, given this history-making season, that I call TROLL!

It really did remind me of Antiques Roadshow. Christ, the guy was 36 years old at the time.

When I was 36, I could run from Happy Isles to the top of Half Dome and back in just under four hours. Depending on your history, genetics, and conditioning, even late-30s is FAR from "antique."
And hasn't he proved as much this year? I mean, "for Christ's sake," as you say, what would it take???
Regardless of team comparisons, bagging on Manning isn't going to get any traction. Even his peers rate him (by almost four times as much as the next-closest contender) as the most respected player in the NFL, as well as the player that they would chose as their number one player upon which to build a brand new team.
You'll be taken (a tiny bit) more seriously if you turn your attention elsewhere.

I see the humorous “Antiques Roadshow” cheap shot was understandably not taken well by Broncos fans. But is there actually some validity to the comment? While it has been documented that people run marathons well into their 90’s (Francics Albaugh is running Ultras at age 90), only 8 QB’s in the history of the NFL have played into their 40’s. Besides the most recent example (Brett Favre) all have been as backups, clipboard holders on the sidelines, only playing scrap minutes and as injury replacements. Football is a different beast than running. So at his age Manning is an antique on the field. Several articles as of late have mentioned he may retire after the season regardless of the outcome of SB48. He no longer throws deep balls with the tight spiral of his youth. The nerve damage he suffered from the herniated disk that was pressing up against his nerve has not been fully repaired through the four neck surgeries he had in 2011. This has affected his grip on the ball and now several NFL analysts are reporting a distinct wobble in his throws. He walks with his shoulders slumped. He doesn’t possess the arm strength he had as an NFL newbie. It is visible from even a cursory glance at the TV screen. As per his contract, doctors will determine his eligibility next season through medical evaluation of his neck this March. He is at the point where his god given genetics which use to be a football strength is becoming a liability and his continued playing time won’t be a football decision but a medical one.

^^^ Well that explains why he had his worst year ever. Except he didn't.
I'm sure Peyton can decide for himself when he will retire regardless of what the babbling heads of sports blogs think or say.
I have been immensely amused by all the naysayers predictions about Peyton Manning. The fact that he keeps proving them all wrong has been one of the best parts his last two NFL seasons for me.

Wrong Osprey. The post season exam was a stipulation in his contract. He is under NO obligation to retire after this year. He has agreed that if the Docs say no go then he will hang up his cleats. But if they give him the go ahead then WHY should he retire? He has the best team he has ever played on, an executive manager in Elway who is shrewdly positioning the Broncos for the future and he is playing lights out! By far the best football of his illustrious 16 year career. The babbling heads of sports media and their mouth breathing knuckle dragging fan base need something to talk about. This post season appointment with the docs is a formality that has been a non story since halfway through the 2012 season when he showed the world that you should never count an old dog out. Have you not noticed he broke a couple of records this year?

Peyton Manning did complete 39 passes for 397 yards and four touchdowns against Tennessee last month when the temperature at kickoff in Denver was 18 degrees.
I guess he didn't get the "Peyton can't play in cold weather" memo.
It was probably sent via the same fax machine that ruined Elvis Dumerville's career.

If there's anyone in the world who is completely irrelevant right now it's Eli Manning
It's cute they're trying to give him some of the limelight and all but really it's just scraps
You're going to tell him about the secrets of the wind? lol I'm not sure I'd be taking advice from Mr. INT.

Yep, one thing you can count on with pro sports events in Boulder--usually more people rooting for the non-Colorado team.
I was skeptical of bringing in Manning, but what can you say, I was wrong.
He may be "old" from an NFL perspective, but how old was Smell-way was when he won his two Stupid Bowls.

Remember when the "experts" were saying Peyton can't play with a glove on his hand?
Well news flash he is 10 & 3 wearing a glove for Denver.
You Seahawk fans are amusing not quite as pathetic as Patsy fans but you are working at it.
Nature at least you will be SheHawk Prancing in Liberalland Boulder.
Some kid in Seattle got fired for wearing a Broncos jersey to work.
