Can you pass me a quote, Reilly? I've followed this really closely, and I must have missed his prediction. And, if so, his was anomalous.

This was supposed to be the best against the best, and sweepingly the predictions were for a very close game.

If the NFC really is this much better than the AFC, then the NFL has a big problem. I really have no interest in following football if the disparities can be THIS huge. There's not point to the word "best" in a case where the "best" offense is really a bunch of keystone cops.

We all knew that Denver's defense wasn't the "best," but you would think (and virtually everybody DID) that Denver's offense could produce a much better (more interesting) showing than this.

So, if you attribute THIS much of a disparity to just how way-awesome Seattle's defense is, then, as I said, the NFL has a big problem. (Oh, and teams should really take this as a heads up and spend most of their money on their DEFENSE rather than attempting to build great offenses!)

And if you attribute this much of a disparity to the "offense" team just totally blowing it (the famed Peyton clutch), as I feared might well happen, then you lose ALL ability to predict much of anything in football (hence, odds-makers are unable to make a living, lol), because you SHOULD not have to continually imagine that one of the teams just doesn't show up.

In the end, Seattle totally earned it and just smacked down a team that couldn't be bothered to show up. Congrats to them and their fans!

Meanwhile, there are some HARD questions to be asked and answered in Denver (and, perhaps, in the whole NFL).

Hey Randisi

What does Superbowl Sunday look like where you are in China? Does anybody there know what's going on over here? And does anyone who isn't American or related even care?

Congrats to the Seahawks & their fans!

I was more or less neutral on this game between my two fav. NFL teams, but after watching the rout starting, I then realized that I wanted the Seahawks to finally win the Super Bowl.

I feel a little bad for the Broncos, but I'll get over it. It's been a long time coming for Seattle!

I was a huge Seattle fan in the late 70's & 80's------and finally one day------I gave up on pro-football and started watching college football.

Otherwise, I don't watch much in the way of team sports.

Congrats to the Seahawks!

^^ I can't speak for China but here in Delhi most (American)football fans got up early (5:00am)to watch. Many headed over to the Embassy club for a killer breakfast and two large screens. Bloody Marys and mohitos were being served though after that first 20 sec. I don't think anyone bothered.

There was a fairly even split between Seahawk fans (big military up that way right) and Broncos though for some strange reason one side was pretty quiet.

Man, there is a party in the streets in Seattle tonight.

Wish I could teleport myself to Pioneer Square for the night...

Congrats to the Seahawks - a long time coming, and a decisive win.

It may be that we're back to those years when the NFC was much better than the AFC. Seattle and San Fran were clearly the two best teams this year.
I wasn't sure about it before the game, but Denver's offense seems to have had very padded number this season. The didn't play any defenses rated in the top five and most of their games were against teams in the bottom half defensively. Apparently that's why their numbers were so good.

So some of us Seattle Stuportopians got together today for the Super Bowl. We had a great time, but I guess we'll have to do it all over again when there's a real football game to watch.

I'm not a fan of any particular team, just someone who likes to watch a good game. But in order to have a good game, two teams have to show up, and tonight that just didn't happen.

Where was the Denver team that set the league on fire for the last five months? Did they think they'd already won, so they could just mail this one in?

Not to take anything away from Seattle, but this was bizarre.

Yes, it was bizarre although I'm not, like, crying about it.
Look, this is the first major sports championship for Seattle,(*1) and I'm pretty happy about it.

Now on to Downton Abbey.

OK, the Sonics:

Wilkens. ....
}

in edit: The Seattle Storm won two WBA championships, 2004 and 2010. That's an embarrassing slip on my part. I remember listening to games from both of those while on the way to climbing trips. I was a fan of Bird, Jackson and Lennox(only the first on).

Ha, Darwin, I was in Alaska on a sufferfest when the Sonics won. What a bummer.
