2011 Sierra Challenge

Ok, so this might be more summitpost than supertopo, but it is still hiking and scrambling in the Sierras, so not completely off topic.

In any case I decided to participate in the 2011 Sierra Challenge - 10 days, 10 peaks. From near Bridgeport to south of Whitney. I am a bit of a slowish hiker but a good scrambler. I was totally out of the running for the Yellow Jersey, but I did compete for the Polka Dot "King of the Mountain" jersey - for most peaks climbed. I don't really want to re-type the whole trip report, so if you really want to see it, follow this link:

Man. Great shots. I thought I had a fairly good knowledge of the Sierra, but I have never heard of Tom Ross (unless Tom is at the bottom of the pile) or Ed Lane Peak.

Whole lotta mountains out there. With a bit of help from folk like ya'll, we'll see 'em All. TPFU, for sure.

Saw a can of Kippers there on the summit-now that is pure class.

Thanks, as far as the pics go, I have a Canon xti with a Tamron 17-50mm lens that those pics were taken with. Some are stitched. I was hating the weight some of the time and I tried to take pics quickly to keep up with the group on the approach hikes. Later after we were split up I'd take more time. I love going without the weight of the camera, but then I see something I want pics of and my point and shoot just won't do it justice and I get frustrated. There were some nice early morning and evening scenes that could I have really used a tripod and some time to work though.

There sure are lots of semi-obscure peaks out there to explore. I also noticed plenty of older sierra challenge entries in various registers this year.
