2013 Yosemite/Patagonia Trip Report
Sunday December 29, 2013 6:05pm
Lucky Monkey is a short film that illustrates a the vibrant events throughout the past year of my life spent in Patagonia and Yosemite National Park. I tried my absolute hardest to capture my experiences while operating at my physical, mental, and emotional limit during the climbs and rescues. Though, during these difficult times, it felt pointless, inappropriate, and greatly inconvenient to pull out my camera. After the fact, I can't express how thankful I am to have captured such unique moments. I'm unbelievably lucky to be continually surrounded by incredible people in such inspiring places. Creating the film was a great learning experience, as I poured every ounce of energy and creativity into it.

I'm posting this from Bangkok, Thailand, where I purposefully chose to be as far away from big mountains as possible!!!! See you in the valley this spring!!!

I am guessing this is a really cool video, but, unlike YouTube, I can't get a steady video stream from Vimeo. What's up with that? Too bad.

Edit: Thanks 'ionlyski'. Turned off HD and got the vid! Very cool! Thanks to Cheyne for all his service to Yosemite.

Thanks for the video!

Enjoyed it !!!

Reminds me when I guided on the "New" and "Gauley" in W.V. We lived in tents, learned to kayak, etc just whitewater but climbed our brains out and made a lot of friends.

Keep doing it...

Summer in Patagonia. Summer in the Ditch.
Jeez, what a bitcjz. You should eat a lot more, Cheyne.

I loved the iron, and the bonfire!

Congratulations on the solo achievement on the Salathe. Dy-no-mite!

Way to capture the magic of the Valley, Cheyne. You were able to go beyond the rocks and the routes and let us into what really makes the place what it is. The people, the laughter, the community of a bunch of like minded souls living under the stars chasing the same endless summer. I hope you and Jessica soak up a lifetime of memories on your trip through Thailand and that you stay healthy and stoked the whole trip. Enjoy some time on the beach. You've earned it. Sport climbing tufas on the beach may make you re-think ever suffering in Patagonia again. Just make sure you don't go soft on us. See you around next summer.

Exceptional vid Cheyne. Trippy seeing the Yos stuff.. Was hangin with Dave in the meadow the day b4 your octopussy send. Such a cool positive psyched guy.

Talked to you as you got pulled into Mason's recovery on the Muir on a day off. Was worried about ya cause it was a bad scene and that stuff can stay with you.

Cheyne's one of the rare ones. Focuses on the important things. Hope you keep making more vids, your focus shines through.

Thanks for the love and support everyone!

Hah! Earlier someone mentioned the possibility that I support myself through family money. That would be RAD! I'm just thinking of how many incredible trips, expeditions, and all new camera gear that I would have at my fingertips! It is honestly a bit of a blow that someone would make that type of assumption. The truth is that I simply work extremely hard to make this life work..

My Dad DID give me a few extra dollars so I could take my little brother to a movie on Christmas though.. That was a nice and uncommon thing for him to do.

Sending good vibes from a hostel Northern Thailand! Peace.
