I spent an amazing weekend in Yosemite. Saturday's forcast was for rain. It rained. Sunday called for sun, it was sunny. Even though I have been itching to climb, I only did so much as jam my hands low in wet cracks just to remember what it feels like.
I drove up from a friends house in Gustine on Saturday morning. Looks wet.
I hiked up to Pat and Jack area for the hell of it, hung out with some deer (who scared the sh!t out of me), took thuis cool pic!!
I then parked in an empty C4 parking lot grabbed some beers and such, my rain jacket, camera and went a walking. First stop Swan Slabs played around for a bit. Lower Yose Falls was roaring, couldn't see Upper since the coulds were so big.
".....and I just kept on walking..."
I hung out with Jam CRack for a while. There was a cool little waterfall running all over the place.
I always have thought that the Chapel looks prettiest surrounded by snow.
After a few hours of walking in the rain, the clouds started to clear. The Sentinal was dusted and looked awesome.
It looked even more awesomer in the sunset.
Here's my shots from the amazing sunset. I did have a sad moment cutting through the village and seeing all the people in the lounge drinking cocktails and watching tv while this amazingh sunset was going on. WHY DO PEOPLE COME TO YOSE TO SIT IN A BAR AND WATCH TV I don't get it.
I went back to C4 drank some more beers and then went walking again. This was the most amazing thing I have ever seen. Ever. I will try to describe what I saw. I am not good woth words. So everything was soaked and starting to steam up from the ground in a foggy haze. The Moon rose up over Half Domer and was being reflected from the snow. There was this amazing wave shaped cloud blowing from GHalf Dome. The most amazing thing I have ever seen. My cheap camera can't do it justice.
The next morning I totallyover slept. I think it is awesome that I sleep better in my tent in C4 in winter than in my own house. Anyways sun was out and snow was steaming.
Now of to the top of Upper Yose Falls.
Awesome hike. I was sweating in 5 minutes. I felt good, my ankle felt good ( I sprained it a few months back) Things on teh trail were dripping wet, and snow from the trees kept falling on me. After the sandy switchbacks then came the snow.
Within10 minutes my shoes were soaked, but it's ok. I was having a blast. Hikers coming down said they turned back because the snow was too hard to walk on. Whatever. I kept going. Almost to the top some guy comes hiking down said he made it to the top. He was covered in sweat.
I made it!!! The last mile each step I took was in someone else's foot step that was 2 feet sunken down and packed in. My claves were frozen.
On the way down I passed all the people who I had passsed going up. "Wow made it to the top and back?" Yup.
I have the most respect for those people who are hiking all the way to the top wearing jeans and converse. Thay are awesome. I passed a few.
This is the exact spot where I sprained my ankle in December durring a stoopid night bouldering session. I jumped down after doing th mantle and BAM! Out for two months. Stupid. I will never do that climb again.
Then I packed up and went home. Took this last parting shot on tyeh way out.
This is my first ever TR, sorry if it's not so good, just wanted to share my amazing weekend with all of you guys.
