Beat The Crowd ! Memorial Wknd, Look Into The Little Eye
Tuesday May 31, 2011 12:53pm
|
|
Weekend Forecast, Occasional Winnebagos with increasing crowds in the higher elevations. Noise pollution with partly annoying kids in the next site at all popular campgrounds with a real toilet.
We made a conscious decision to take wind and sand for a little solitude.
We got it all. WIND.....SAND......SOLITUDE
The choice was made. Look into the little eye. Ojito.
For this expedition, we would be taking pretty much the whole fam damily.
Of course we had an adventure with the electric corral in the middle of the first night, but that's another story....
Zuni volunteered to guard the hay while we finished building camp.
Never go camping in the desert without your parachute.
But DO take care when gathering rocks to anchor down the parachute!
Try to find a place that's half way pleasing to the eye.
When erecting a flapping tent in the wind, be careful that the horses don't jump out of their skin, or you'll end up with naked horses!
Take a walk at sunset. All work and no play....sucks.
Warn the boy about playing on the edge of cliffs, but don't be an azzhole about it......fine line there....
When photographing bonsai trees, be careful where your bride is sitting.
Love the world with all your heart. It's the only one we've got.
MORE LATER AFTER A FEW CHORES ! (some of you know my M.O.)

TJI, that was the little rattler ! Yes, they BOTH rattled, but the second one was MUCH more impressive.
This bad boy was MANY times his size!
I wanted to get better pictures but I wazzaskeert!!!
It's so great to have the girls on their horses out in the big-wide-open.
The sacred Cabezon Peak in the distance. For Jeremy and Lepton.
I've always loved a good snag shot!

Thanks, you all are the best. Hey, it ain't big wallin' in Baffin, but it's better'n non-stop-poli-squabble!!
Trying to squeeze in some pix between chores.
We even had the bird along.
Looking over White Mesa.
A girl, a horse, and a new dog.
Givin' him a test drive. Trying to certify the horse and the dog on one another.
We had a blast exploring this huge slab of rock that went on for a half mile!
Bonsai on Guido! It always amazes me how they can grow out of almost solid rock.....

Excellent post BB. I need to come down for a visit some time. The kids are growing up too fast! I thought we were the only crazy people to take the bird camping with us. Lucy is doing fine and loves riding in the truck and camping. Your photos are awesome and your writings are as fun as ever. Tell Amber I'll send her a photo of Lucy. Take care bro.

Thanks a lot Swerv. I hope you do come down here for a visit. It's your old PJ neighborhood after all. There are a ton of retired PJs around here eh?
I have a good place for you to stay, and I'll make sure you're treated like a KING !!!
