Cochise Sushi fest by way of Joshua Tree, Baboquivari and Mt. Lemon

Not many photos, not many routes climbed, but I did stretch some muscles, injure others and recover. Even had a minor drunkin campfire injury when I sat on, and squashed, my own hand. (I did not spill the miso, or the beer however.) Met some new people and saw some new things. Sensory overload for a while, but now up loading and processing.
"Got" the first 1/4 of the Gunsmoke traverse. Got to hang with some cool peeps, heard a 'Bird tale first hand. (can you say goosebumps?)
Loved the Mt. Lemon rock, not so much the manicured camping. (Did not stop us.) Cochise stone called out to me strongest, there I did the most climbing. Still not leading, still resting a lot, but my feet found their way under me the day after Thanksgiving. Thanks Frummy, triple+ thanks to Al(natural).
Putting together more names, faces and realities behind the ST avatars. Always interesting and fun. Really enjoyed talking with Frummy, guyman, Cole, the Dr. and others.
Met some fine pups, even the one eyed, food thief, gear pissing Jack I liked.
Got to watch a great young lady from Jackson, WY develop some more as a leader, and her pal Nate develop a well rounded climbing background with her. Oh the things they put him through in a couple of weeks! Easy to be happy for them. (good job Nicole!)
I found out who had my Mojo, and it was me! This guy just produced it from behind my ear, like that coin trick......and gave it back to me. (lost the earring somewhere. true dat)
I'd tell the tale of the wild night in Ryan campground, but it's his to tell.
Motivation is high, but with the wind howling and the precip dripping down, time to change gears to slidin mode. Let there be Pow.

it's just the same old story.
lot's of so called climbers go camping.
nature sets up a sushi tent.
said climbing posuers drink beer and smoke weed.
nature slices fish.
gumbies partake (everything!) until stuffed.
half a dozen of said "climbers" fall down in dirt.
everyone wakes up with a hangover and pretends to go climbing
wash, rinse, repeat.

Thanks Julia. A great story. We wanted to go to this one pretty badly. I love the Stronghold, and Nature owes Mari and me a sushi experience. And it would be fun to see him again.
But I couldn't get free last weekend. However, we did get away last Sunday and have spent the last four days climbing at Red Rocks in perfect weather.

oh, maybe, but new years here can involve some adventure skeezin.
Hey! I just remembered I forgot the Babo part!
Brief and lonely as it was, I loved it! Got my wires crossed with the Jackson crew. I thought they were headed to Babo, they thought otherwise and went to meet Pennsylenvy at Mt. Lemon.
Fairly creepy pulling into the west side Indian campground at dark and seeing NO ONE. Especially after all the horror stories I have heard of ki-o-ta's in the area, and I don't mean the 4 legged kind.
This produced some fairly comical voice mails on my part. It's all good, I survived and we made plans to go back when the days are longer so we aren't beating around the brush, less than 20 miles from the border, in the dark. (I miss my sheppy puppy!)
Got to see 2 Caracas's too! (Big exotic eagle like raptors)
Here is some interesting beta on that campground. Cell service is OK, no electricity I could find (my phone was almost dead)but hey! They have a new wireless internet set up, solar powered! Did not try it, no computer along.
Also, you are supposed to stop at the visitor center and get a permit to climb Babo. $10 for a day, $15 if you bivy. Please stop and pay the fee, the tribe needs the money and the campground is nice.
Just because they don't en-force it doesn't make it cool to skip this.
