Day on the Hog
On Saturday April 20, 2013 Bill McConachie, Frank Baker, & I spent the day on the Hogsback doing It's better with bacon & Hogwild (combined ages of 177 y). I had not done either route but Bill & Frank had done both of these fine routes. It was a warm, spectacular day with a light breeze and we had the place to ourselves. We did It's better with bacon in 5 (short ~ 100 ft) pitches and rapped the route in 3 raps w/two 60 m ropes. Bill donated a 1/2-inch tubular runner for a rap anchor on the tree at the top. P1 (5.6): 2 thin (20 mm to 1.5 cm) en echelon cracks that take 1 or 2 nano stoppers. P2 (5.6): bolts on face w/ thin dikes P3 (5.7): lieback crack and face w/thin dikes P4 (5.8): diehedral, some face & 1 roof P5 (5.8): pass a couple of roofs to the top.
