Trip Report
Desert dessert

The months have been trickling by without much fun for me lately. I have been spending my free time remodeling half the house with a new kitchen, and since it's so close to done my wife sent me away for the weekend to chill out. I told her month plan was to sit in a hot spring and drink beer.
Missing photo ID#512026 The dessert can be dry, but it holds secrets off the beaten path.
Missing photo ID#512027 Missing photo ID#512028 My friend and i started late, and he has some foot and back issues happening right now, so we only climbed half a rope length. The rock is good, and as you would expect with remote seldom touched stone, there is plenty of loose block etc. I suspect this formation goes 4-5 pitches, and I'd be curious about who's made the 1st ascent.
Missing photo ID#512029 Missing photo ID#512030 After that, we headed back to spend several hours immersed in the hot pool with a cold one in hand. Voodoo Ranger Atomic Pumpkin, to be exact. My little slice of dessert in the desert.

John, we should finish the routes there. Could be some pretty decent climbs.

Thank You for posting the visions from the great wide open,
((Did You Place that Green PIN?)
It seems not, but I know you have The Stash
if it was insitue
What once said so little, "These are mine", Just green paint on an army surplus pin. Maybe thats all it says?
or Leaving it in place?
& that placement speak to the special location and the considered, potential for the future of the quality of the Line.
at least to me thats what it says . . . When I bothered to paint one up like that, it was intended for a specific spot & for it to last as long as possible.

It's my pin.
When I return I'll clean it.
It was my bail anchor, and it is as solid as they get.
I'm calling that pitch at about 5.5 and I don't think anyone else will get around to it before I make it back out there; and if they do they'll be looking at harder lines anyway.

Your pin looks good, so then Im as much a fan of your exploits as ever, I love to see that sort of climbing getting done.
So i will not be asking what, if anything is still for sale,
Great that you are using them Well

JonnyRig,
Nice story, nice pics, love the great dry wide open. Also am a real fan of the obscure desert crag. Thanks for posting this little gem on an otherwise sad Monday. Hope the remodel finishes well.

It's hard to believe that there was a time when I hated the desert. Nice report, nice climbing.

Bump for the boonies. Rock looks pretty good, hot spring looks great!
I was tempted by the partner broadcast but need to get a little credibility finishing a work project first.
