Grand time on the Grand wall
Friday September 28, 2012 4:18pm
My wife and I just moved up to Vancouver this summer and were fortunate enough to have a few friends come visit.

My friend Greg is a hardman from Colorado and he spends his summers "picking all the plum lines" on the west coast. This was his first visit to Sqamish and I think it's safe to say he was not disappointed by the "plums" in Squamish! Even though I'm too wimpy to climb the hardman routes that Greg would have otherwise, we hit up all the base routes on the chief and then took a spin on the Grand wall!

In the end I took all the easy pitches 1,2,6 and 8, and Greg led the meat and potatoes of the route. As a bonus on the hike down the falls trail we were greeted by a group of naked young ladys(!) hanging out in the sun on one of the rock slab banks. Needless to say, Greg is already planning his next visit.

Nice. Split Piller was an unexpected difficulty for me as my hands are too small to get a jam on it - laybacking and flying epic ensued. Must get back....... Fabulous granite.
