Trip Report
Half Dome with a six year old
Friday July 15, 2011 2:06pm
That was quite the group hug [thanks!] for climbing Half Dome with a 12 year old. http://www.supertopo.com/tr/Half-Dome-with-my-daughter/t11070n.html

It could get downright kinky posting a TR on climbing Half Dome with a 6 year old!

I love these reports. It's great to see kids outside having good safe fun. Keep up the good work and the TRs!

BTW, can your kids give me some climbing tips?

"Role modeled important life lessons of patience and restraint by hanging at the base of Snake Dike for two infuriating, interminable hours waiting for the route to clear before exploding into a fit of rage and simul climbing with 3 kids past 8 climbers in one fell, crisscrossing, rope tangling, frenzied swoop."

Funny!

Good for you all!!!!!!!!!!! I did a lot of climbing with both my kids at that age [and younger] and they both managed to make it to adulthood. However neither took up climbing seriously so don't be disappointed if they don't or too enthusiastic if they do.

Best Regards

To clarify:

> Snake Dike /w John, Sid, Ian, Elizabeth, Kara, and Jim, 6/8/08

Kara (age 9 at the time) is Jim and Anne's.
Ian (age 8?) and Elizabeth (age 6 at the time) are John and Sid's.
(Sid is the sweeper, climbing just below Elizabeth).

Jim, awesome TR, both this and the one with Kara on HD.

My girlfriend works for CPS and know she would give you a parenting AWARD for what you are doing with your kids.

Thanks for posting! Very funny, too.
