Hammer Dome
Saturday August 14, 2010 8:50pm
My friend Matt and I left Sacramento at 0700 for Hammer Dome up the 88 corridor for a break from the crowds at Lovers Leap. Took about 2.5 hours from Sac, and as expected, we had the whole place to ourselves. We first hopped on Gemini Crack (5.8)

After Matts lead, we again swapped and finished via "Itsy Bitsy Variation" (10.a slab)

Matt continued to lead the 3rd pitch, then we again retreated to the base. One last pitch was to be had, jumped on what I thought was "sea of holes" (10.a I think) and did one pitch. Tired and thirsty, we headed back to the car, when we encountered..........

After pussyfooting it after the snake, we raced home, taking just under 2 hours. I miss climbing Cal and Hammer domes, will be back soon!

Nice job taking advantage of a cooling trend as mid August is typically brutal on Hammer Dome.
