Trip Report
Ice Climbing North Face of Tahquitz
Tuesday February 2, 2010 5:55am
I've heard rumors before that this face can form ice on rare occasions. Once every few years it might develop enough ice to climb.

So last Friday at 7pm my buddy Shaun Byrne calls me saying he suspects that there will be ice on Tahquitz because of the recent weather patterns. The phone conversation went something like this:

Shaun: Kia, Let's go to Tahquitz tomorrow.

Kia: I can't, I already made plans to go skiing at Baldy with a bunch of friends. Besides, it might not be in shape.

Shaun: Come on! What are you gonna do if you go back to work next week and see a trip report on supertopo of people climbing it? Then what? Or you could be the one making the trip report next week....

Kia: What time you wanna meet up?

Shaun: 4am

Enjoy! http://vimeo.com/9151211

We suspect it might be in even better shape this weekend. Maybe I can go ice climbing and surfing on the same day??? Gotta love SOCAL!

Cheers!

Kia

Ya, I remember see you guys in the parking lot. We figured you guys were going for the Trough since we didn't see you on the north side.

Cheers!

Wow, nice video (and nice climb too). How do you make a video like that? Any educational links will be appreciated.
