Lee Nails

I've had athletes foot since a pair of steel toed cowboy style construction boots when I was 22. Repeated chronic use of cramped size 39 EB's for five years before that may have paved the way. The subsequent thirty five years of tight climbing shoes haven't helped at all.
Then there's the cracks; heel, arch, mid foot, ball. The fact that I live in flip flops when not in climbing, running or ski shoes have allowed them to erode in deeply.
In 2010 Lind Lu mentioned that I should see the foot shaman.
"Hunh?"
"Get a pedicure"
Fear of stepping into the dreaded "Nail Salon" kept me away for the next few years. I was resolved to do it, but only when I had a girl to go with me, hold my hand, show me the ropes. Male brute that I am I had an innate fear of "doing it wrong" perhaps saying the wrong thing and embarrassing myself forever!
Then in Moab, I learned that local alpha male The Larry had his done. And his tootsies were all over the Instagram nation. I got a refferal for Lee Nails from him. i was almost ready to take. Still, he had had a girl with him to pop his nail cherry.
I had no resources in this regard.
I would have to go it alone, Solo, as it were!
The approach was brutal but the situation was desperate!
Time for specialized gear!
Oh yeah, baby that's the stuff,
"I'm gonna get me one of them massage chair foot bath combos for my man cave, and watch NFL"-The Larry -paraphrase
"I cannot shave anymore off because of how deep the cracks are. I'll fill them with glue. We get that part next time."
Fair enough
Check these babies out!
An invert in TC pros today feels like I'm wearing bedroom slippers!
Do it today!

Pumice stone, boys. A little safer than hacking on your feet with razor blades. Prep with epsom salt footbath first, then dry and use the stone. Don't ask why I know this, I'm trying to forget her.
Just one question Jaybro: Did you pick that color?

I've tried Epsom salts, Johnson's foot soak, emery paper, gritstones, pumice, deemed tools, you name it. This is the shit! Yes will, I did, pick this color. I wanted mythos mauve, but of the choices I was given I liked jade the best.

I thought this was going to be about some guy named Lee doing a desperate aid route.
I'd gladly take one of those foot swirlees. Think I'd go with silver nail polish though.

Whenever I see those spacers between the toes (usually on my wife's feet), I think of Zonker in "Doonesbury" and his use of those spacers to make sure his feet have the perfect tan.
Your reference to five years in size 39 EB's really hit home to me. I can measure my slide from serious to comfort-driven in the size of my climbing shoes. At Berkeley I wore 5 narrow PA's until my senior year in 1973, when I switched to size 37 EB's. By the time the decade ended, I was up to size 39 EB's. I'm reasonably sure the size of my feet didn't change during that time.

i dont get it.
is it just the foo-foo treatment
that cures the fungal demons?
or is that green paint medicinal / anti fungal?
it doesn't make sense that a simple
soak, file and paint job
would cure the athlete's foot?
uh,
the reason i ask is that my 9 year old
daughter contracted my foot fungus thru
shared toe-nail clippers,
(our pediatrician threw me under the bus)
and my wife is ultra-begrudged about it.
so if i could remedy my daughter's
case then i could probably better
service the wife's ovulations.

Oh poor Tami. I hope you didn't tell her I sent you. She might take it out on my feet next time. Haha. She is a miracle worker. That's a pretty proud solo by the way.

good one Jay! and COURAGEOUS and Weegie your daughter will love the nail salon lots of girls her age there and yes they do the best job and use antifungals and it's worth the minimal outlay but you know your daughter could get that anywhere, yeast is pervasive in the world I doubt it was the use of clippers alone

I find surfing in salt water for a couple of months cured all my skiing and climbing foot aliments.
But nevermind, I know how you city boys like to get dress upped, put on your fancy pants and roll about town, so I wont say anything more.

Good for you. I fought the foo-foo nail salon for years but now I'm addicted. Having a pedicure while sitting in a massage chair is one of the sublime pleasures in life IMO. I see men sneaking in there all the time BTW.
I'm in flip-flops 99% of the time and don't want my feet to end up looking like Tucker's so I'm diligent with the foot file and moisturizer every night to combat the cracking. I've also struggled with fungus issues in the past.
A side note(Weege and Jay) on the fungus.. that's a whole different issue that takes a very long time to cure. You need to be treating it daily for 4 months to over a year. Athletes foot usually clears up faster. 35% solution at least 2-3x a day for nails. If you aren't lucky enough to live by the ocean (or the salt lake in your case)... try apple cider vinegar. Soak your toes for 10 minutes each night in addition to some leave-on topical stuff. There's some T-Tree fungal solutions that work pretty good too but you have to keep after it consistently.
Enjoy your snazzy paint job for a while, but ultimately, painting nail polish on top actually can make it worse in the long run since it protects the fungus from sunlight and you forget to apply treatments (out of sight out of mind).
Keep taking care of those feet though! Regular trips to the salon will help with the calluses and cracking. Thumbs up for Lee Nails.^^

Maybe try that thing where they put your feet in a tub of baby remoras or something and they eat all the dead skin off in a most delicate way. You go first.....
