Karambony Pillar and the Lemurs!
These are amazing photos. Something tells me that your NC trip provided some prep for the bold and slabby Madagascar. :-)

Beautiful rock, beautiful landscapes, very cool light, and colors...Thanks for the TR*
Did you get a chance to hear any local music...Some purdy music in Madagascar. I wish i could remember the name of the band i used to like..They had some instruments that were made from bicycle parts, i think it was part of a bicycle chain.

Interesting you should caption a photo:
*Climbing the amazing water-carved features on pitch 4 of La Croix Du Sud (Sept. 2011).*
I have first hand experience of that water carving... In November 1999 a big storm hit us as we were rapping down off this route. It was so intense that the face was more like a river in spate with the water breaking half way up my shins. Great photos - they bring back the memories. Thanks

All, thank you for the very nice comments, esp on my first tr attempt here!
To answer the questions above,
1. the rock is granite & at least the easier stuff that we got on had less slab type terrain & more edges & nubbins (like red rocks or even smith). I wish we could climb 7b grade to really go to town there.
2. there's a place to stay (2 or 3 in fact) with the closest & the one we used called Camp Catta (great website). tents, tent shelters & cabins. Also a cafeteria (great cooking!) & bar. the other camps got less than favorable reviews from a couple climbers we talked to ("cheaper but kind of dead")
3. the log book in camp catta claimed Ondra had FFA (Oct. 2010 I think) of Tough Enough with all pitches led onsight.

it seems that place was so exotic just a couple years ago, and now it seems reachable. just my narrow perspective at the moment.

Thank you so much for putting the show together and sharing - stellar pics, has me tallying my frequent flyer miles and vacation days.
Between this and Brad's Tooth Rock story, it's one of the best days on supertopo.
(and a rallying cry to leave the wasteland of Houston!)
Aloha,
John
