This is what it's all about -- making your own adventure, and what better place than Yosemite? It's totally worth the long drive you guys made because Yosemite is magical. By the way, most of us learned to climb On-The-Job, so to speak, and if you're normally a level-headed person with good judgement you'll enjoy safe and exciting adventures for many years to come.

Yeah you got off route on the Sunnyside Bench Regular Route, should have gone right when you got to that ledge where you took the pic of the double rappel. Way to get out there though, stay safe and have fun!

Either the route has become overgrown since 2003 when our guidebook was written or we got horribly lost.

Hahaha - you were a little off route ;)

I think that's the ledge we decided was "the ledge" but it was getting dark and we decided not to push it. Which turned out to be a good thing because the rope got snagged near the top and we ended up walking back in the dark.

sounds to me like kirby needs to find a couple of climbers to hang out with instead of "hanging out" with the couple of these climbers.

cheers to all who survived

Not to mention.... What gear is really needed for Munge?..

I mean.. I've tried rope soloing that thing.. but half way through the pain I decided to sack up and solo out...

We left her tied to a tree for at least 2 hours and did not complain once. I highly recommend Kirby.

I see the spirit of your post!

You realized you are "turkeys!"

Back in the 1970's, friends and I did 3 long trips to Yosemite.

Each trip: after a few days-----we realized we were turkeys.

After that: we could enjoy the climbing.
