Trip Report
Patagonia Video - First Ascent
Wednesday May 2, 2012 9:29pm
I flipped my life around this past year. I dropped out of school, got EMT certified, and recieved a grant to climb in Patagonia. I was lucky enough to experience a legendary season in El Chalten, and brought along my camera.

Here is the final video of a series of chapters captured during my trip to South America. Scott Bennett and I climbed a new ridge linkup that turned out to be one of the longest routes in Patagonia.

You can check out 4 other videos I produced during the trip along with a handful of pictures. I have done my best to update reports about the routes I climbed, but am still in the process of completing them. Please enjoy what I have posted on my blog:

I have been working full time painting houses since I have been back from Patagonia, and finished my last day of work. This weekend I am heading out to Yosemite valley where I will continue to live the dream. See you out there!

cool!

if I may ask, how much did this Argentinean date cost? I'm budgeting $3,500 for a month in Argentina over 2012-13 (including airfare, meals, hotels, campgrounds, permits -- everything), most of it spent in Chalten... will that cover it?

Nice vid.

$3,500 for Chalten? That should last a season there.

the $3,500 includes airfare from/to the states, airfare and travel in-country, a night or two at a hostel, food, white gas, permits, and the finest hookers and blow Chalten can offer.

$3,500 should do just fine, and allow for a couple nice dinners out at la Senyera every week. The key to maintaining sanity is renting a room or an apartment though- camping is kind of a pain these days and just makes life a bit more difficult.

Cheyne just pretty much wrote the book on how to show up onsight to the zone and fire off the raddest rock line there. Palabra.

Awesome adventure fellas. Way to stick your necks out and git it dun!

Your video was super slick "a la" Renan Oztuk. Had the vibe of his Dispatch stuff. Way to evoke the vibe and mood with the tight editing, music and voiceovers. That's a tremendous amount of time in front of the screen after the trip to put this thing together. What are you editing in? FCPX? After Effects?
