Pate, yes we were spared THIS trip. However, once on Notchtop I thought one of those fiendish bastards was going to push me off a ledge. I was only saved by the fine art of simultaneous belay/rock hurl. Likewise after a climb up the petit grepon (which happened to be after we were married on the summit) one of those gluttonous rats ate our dinner, a block of cheese and a bag of almonds. We still had enough grub to sustain ourselves for a climb the next day, but the walk out was HUNGRY!
