Return to Turlock

I had not been to Stoney Point in 3 years......made it out there on 2/12 and remembered why I love that area so. It was a bit crowded, but most of the climbers seem to be rich in ettiquette and patience, which makes for a good time. We jammed Turlock up for a bit as the kids wanted a not-so-scary spot to Top Rope.

The conditions were great, as were the climbers. Looks like I'm going to spend

It's been thirty years now since I went bouldering at Stoney Point, and Hoof and Mouth on Turlock was probably the last thing I did there. Even though that's on the other side of the boulder, your picture brings back lots of good memories.

Thanks. I hope you and your daughter have a great time this summer.

I've been going to Stoney along time never had a problem. I have had a lot of gang guys want to know (with big eyes) what I was doing. A couple have come back and turned into climbers. It's going to be a great year at Stoney. You might check out the Stoney Point thread.

The sandstone crucible is better than ever. I little worn but still fine.

Thanks to the many who clean up after the few.

Glad you are back at it and exposing the kids to it.

It had been about ten years since I had been out there, maybe more until I started taking my 10 y/o son out there a few months ago. He has taken quite a liking to climbing and he has already done a few multi pitch climbs with me. It's great fun watching him get better and become interested in the sport. He anticipates Alpinist Magazine coming in the mail more than I do know.

Thanks for posting. I don't think I've bouldered there since 1981. Nice little urban crag, though.
