Warm greetings SuperTopoist's from a grey day in Bristol in the UK!

It's been a while since I have been around these here parts as I have been very busy becoming a fully qualified drone pilot and going on various climbing adventures but now that is all out of the way I have lots of climbing video's to edit!

Anyway here's a wee offering to hopefully brighten up your day and a short film I made to celebrate the 50th anniversary ascent of the classic rock climb called Right Angle at Gurnard's Head in Cornwall. One of the great Hard Severe's in the UK and first climbed on August 26th 1966 by my mate and climbing buddy Iain Peters. At the tender age of 17, Iain went out in search of the "Extreme to end all Extremes", but instead found the Hard Severe to end all Hard Severe's which was not a bad consolation prize. Right Angle is also known from Ken Wilson's quote of "one of the few mistakes in judgement I ever made" with it's omission from Classic Rock!

The rather ambitious plan on this serious and committing sea-cliff climb was to try and get 50 climbers up the route in a day with some cunning pre-rigging of the gear and belays so all we needed was the weather to play ball. And after a cloudy, blustery start it turned into a lovely bluebird day and a large group of friends, with ages ranging from 8 to 68, turned up and all helped make it a fun-filled event.

So did we manage to get 50 climbers up the route in a day? Well have a look at the vid, complete with some drone footage of one the great Hard Severes to find out!

All constructive feedback welcome, please feel free to share and hopefully it will brighten up a tea break up with a brew and hobnob! :-)

Happy Tuesday!

Dave

I was just thinking OF YOU.
JUST 10 HOURS AGO!

a MOMENT WHILE I TAKE A LOOK. Then I'll be back. I have been tempted to add the screen shot of that massive bolt to more than one thread.

Bald, I have missed your posts and videos, so am happy you are back. Great effort with this one. I have to confess that after seeing your videos of various cool climbs in the U.K. that I have developed a real urge to travel there and climb as many of these classics as I can, while I am still able to do so. It would be really great. If I can pull a climbing trip to the UK off I would very much enjoy touching base with you over a pint or two.
Cheers

Good to see you back, Baldy!
A pity I wasn’t there for the conga line. Our day nearby in early June was not one to entice one to put on anything but Wellies...
I know it wasn’t really that bad, just a Force 5 or 6 day. :-)

Oh, did I mention that the few hours I had allotted to Bristol and Brunel’s maritime masterpiece was spent buying a new tyre? :-(

Many thanks for taking the time to post your kind words Nick! If you ever head across the pond to sample some UK classics ping me a mail via here and if I am around it would be cool to hook up for climb and pint or 3! Or should it be a pint and climb or 3... :-) Cheers Dave
