Nice photo essay F&S! Particularly liked the ledge/bivy pics, which take me back to when I climbed Salathe Nov. 78'. Appears we spent 1 night more, an uncomfortable one on the Block. What struck me as the big difference was the influence of headlamps...I hardly had one with me then, days of WonderLamps!
Long ledge near the top jogged me memory of our 'jettison' and my Scottish partner Graham. Schooled in the art we stuffed my homemade haul bag with what might survive, gave a loud shout and let it hurl! It didn't have shoulder straps anyway.
