TR from the midwest

What do you do in the frigid Midwest in the winter? You take a 4 hour trip to climb on a home wall and watch the Super Bowl. NOT ME! Crimpie made the trip to my party and little home wall bouldering competition! We met at the local rock gym, IBEX, on Saturday and got a couple of hours of plastic pulling to be sure we got tired for the bouldering competition on Sunday. After getting worked we went back to the house to rest up. That involved introducing Crimpie to UFC! I am not a big aficionado but there was a live PPV on so I invited some friends over to share the mayhem. By the end of the night Crimpie was yelling at the TV "break his arm" "break his leg". So in typical midwestern dirtbag adventures, we all hit the hot tub for an hour or so to relax.
On Sunday we continued the adventure by walking the dogs to where there is normally a heron or some geese. But, we had to bail due to lightning and sleet. A true epic in the making.
Finally we all had a great time bouldering and drinking and eating and hanging in the hot tub. Some actually watched the football game, but not many. The comp itself is a game called add-on. People were paired up. One person picks two holds to start while the other person starts. They add two more holds. They alternate adding two more holds each time until one of them can't complete the sequence. Crimpie has some incredibly long rounds with a guy that threw real long moves that she was able to finesse around. Here are a few shots of this epic weekend.

Beer time (unfortunately Crimp had to leave soon after the game and heavier drinking started.
Finally the payoff after a true midwestern epic.

What a great time! Thanks for the invite. Wish I didn't have to take off so soon.
And damn that flying-monkey Scott - I'll practice my leaping-180-gaining-altitude-across-the boulder-cave-moves and crush him next year. :)

Here's a shot of Crimpie's nemisis, the flying Scott, using the rock rings to great cover major ground.

They were really fun rounds with him. I stayed low on crimps to his dismay, and he went for the big moves to my dread. Super fun!

bump for Crimpie I screwed up. It should have been titled something like Crimpie's TR or Crimpie's big adventure or Crimpie's Epic.

Dogfather went to a lot of work to make the house open to everyone. And what a bouldering set up! Wish I lived closer. He's a consistent guy - first all the Dogfather DVD work, and then these sorts of events. If we gave out ST.com awards, he'd surely be up for several good ones.
Not only does he have TWO bouldering caves in the house, he has a fantastic gym nearby. It was great to finally meet the one, the only, Phantom Fugitive (Jeremy Collins) as well.
Such a good time! Wish I didn't have to leave so early...

Nice winter fun Doggydoggerdaddy. Your home gym looks epic. After Crimp's celebrity appearance I'm sure you won't scrub the holds she touched for many.
In this, our snowiest winter in 20+ years, I'm bidding on ebay bargain holds. Any beta for a home wall noobie?
Cool TR.
2nd on the J. Collins ?

Chiloe, look at the wall in the next to last picture. That is the original of the painting you showed in your post. And yes, that is THE Jeremy Collins. That is him up higher with the red bull in his mouth.

Sorry for the highjack, but thanks for that heads up Chiloe. Jeremy Collin's Art is exceptional. Worthy of its own thread for sure.

It was cool sitting in the home theatre portion of the Dogfather Estate seeing multiple original Jeremy Collins' paintings. He's a sweet guy too. And can he ever climb - even in dress shoes. Mad edging capabilities!
