Tenaya with Wire Pete - Shout out to Peter Hayes
Tuesday July 14, 2015 1:22pm
Peter Hayes - my cousin and boyhood hero, artist, climber, river guide and skier extraordinaire. His lungs are failing and a life lived to the fullest is coming to a close. https://www.facebook.com/peter.hayes.9480

He gave me a wire climber he made that has joined me on a few climbs. Here we are on the summit of Tenaya:

Neat video. Sorry to read about Peter's condition. From the Facebook page and our mutual friends, he seems like a wonderful person.

Peter is the man. He's contributed numerous historical climbing artifacts (if you can call them that) to our local shop in addition to local slc crew, and has been a staple of the SLC climbing community. He was nice enough to have us over to his house for an impromptu bouldering session in his custom basement bouldering room 2 years ago. If you read this Peter thanks for having Kristin, Zac, and I over that day.

I'll say it again. Peter is the man!

Peter's a great guy for sure. I worked and guided with him a bit back in the late 80s or early 90s in SoCal (the years are all blurring together). So sorry to hear that he's having health problems. Like I said, he's a top-notch fellow.

Peter is an inspiration to me, when I needed to become a better, stronger climber, all I did was follow Pete around Stoney.

Running laps on Maggie's Farm, Viscous and Iguana in till you couldn't lift your hands above you head did it for me. (well as much as one can hope for)

He always has a smile on his face and is willing to share his knowledge about climbing, training, rafting and any subject that wpold pop up.

His attitude towards his condition has helped me deal with my own little problems in a better way.

Cheers to you Pete, I hope your have a great day..... Looking forward to seeing your face again soon.

When I fell and broke my back in 1993, Peter opened my airway and likely saved my life. True story.
