Cnoc na Mara

With the on/off nature of the current downpour that suggests another classic Irish summer is in attendance, it would be rude nae madness not to play out at any and every given opportunity.
And Sho, a couple of days ago went for a play on Cnoc na Mara. (hill of the Sea) It has been a long term idea to complete an ascent of this sea stack in the way that had been the original concept.
The short film below shows the foolishness of the activity and also the slightly irritated nature of the locals of this island. If I had delayed the ascent then all the eggs would have hatched and the mothers start spitting and are rightly so much more aggressive.

The rules of the engagement were simple,
A) 4km round trip paddle along the unescapables from An Port to the Entrance to Shambhala storm beach.
B) 150m of ridge climbing to the summit
C) Be alone

A great TR...

I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honeybee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;

The words of a fellow countryman who was born 150 years and nine days ago.
