The pictures are excellent, thank you! We were in Tuolumne July 27, and in the valley for a few days after that. I always find Tuolumne breathtaking.

Bravo!

I love the area by Do or Fly, though I've never tried the route. Can you access the anchors by walkup or scramble?

le_bruce - it is a tricky top rope to set up. Need to go to the top of puppy dome, downclimb some tricky terrain with wild exposure (I remember Timmy Messick doing it without a rope, but most people take a belay to get to the two-bolt anchors) and setup the toprope off two bolts with chains then rappel down putting in a few directionals.

Very nice!
I'm off to the Meadows myself this weekend so that Cleo can put the hurt on me by climbing some long ass moderate thing that taxes my wimpy cardio.

Nice trip, looks like a great family. I guess that was T.M. in the photo of old friends? I met him twice, a long time ago.

Yup, it was herbert. Was up getting a campsite for Tommy. He has indeed stopped climbing as someone reported on his appreciation thread. Took a nice stroll around the meadow, got caught up on gossip and family news, then he was off.

The climbing looked great. Love seeing kids taking on the life style and enjoying the outdoors.

Question for you, how were the bugs? I am looking to take my family up there in a week and was wondering how to dress the kids.

Hi Joe - mid-July the bugs were bugging us for sure. Bases of climbs had mosquitoes, the hour around dusk they were thick, and if sleeping out, you woke up early with those critters buzzing in your ear. By the 1st week of August they were hardly noticeable. Fit a straight line thru that bugs vs time plot and there are none left by now.

Thanks for the info Mike. My kids were able to brave the thick Minnesota bugs 2 weeks ago while visiting the in-laws so hopefully we will have a good trip like you had with your kids.

Looks like you have two up and comming rope guns. Who knows what they will be leading you up in a few years. Pretty cool.

Inspiring for me with 2,4,6 and 8 year old kids not getting into the meadows as much as I'd like. Can't wait 'til their old enough. Thanks for sharing.

Super great pics and TR. Dang, so wish I would have climbed when I could have with my hub. I could have enjoyed some of the fun you guys just experienced. Go for it when opportunity presents is all i can say now. I've learned my lesson for sure. Cheers ! Lynne

Way to go Mike. As a dad I am envious and all the more because your "rope gun" is climbing old school. (I am half suprised that you were not chided on this forum for letting him lead at all much less with slung nuts.) My own little one is 4 and TRing stuff. We recently hiked out by headlamp with him on my shoulders...special time. Best wishes.
