the weather has been awesome and makayla was to bored to go to easy climbs (like makaylas climb at pat and jack cliff), so after a leisurely sleep in till around 11am we made lunch and went for the drive into the park. lots of climbers at the crag but not on this hidden new gem. i just told her we would go up a couple pitches till she was tired. next thing you know shes begging to go higher and the summit was in sight. she cruised the 5.10a finger to overhanging knobs pitch and i have to say i dont think ill ever see a bigger smile on her face than that moment. then suprisingly she cruised both the 10a face and then on the next pitch the 10a mantel and finger finish. lastly the 5.9 finger to stemming and chimney to the top of pitch 8. steep rappels and in no time we were back at the truck and she cant wait to tell mom how it was!

hey there say, thanks for the share... wow, i was, i think, playing dolls and playing house, with few best friends, at that age... ohmy, but i went on to be a good babysitter from it all,

so--may she go on to be great things, in her "line of childhood training" and, may you enjoy your adventures together, too! :)

Dan,
You can edit to make the photos show up correctly.
Each code should say [photoid=number]
Not your fault - it's a bug in the Supertopo photo insert code that leaves the cursor right after photo, instead of after ] .
After doing that, and rotating a couple: here are all the photos:

Dan,

If you look back at your original post, there should be a button that says
[Edit]
at the very bottom.
Click on that, and then you can modify your original post to fix up
the codes for showing the photos. (And add the new codes, too).
That way all the photos will show up right in the original post.

If you can't get it to work, I'll put them all in my post.

Very nice. I have taken my kids out a lot, but mostly bouldering as it always seemed like too much work and not enough fun when we used ropes. Though, last year, I took him on some multi pitch climbing in the BH Needles and summited spire 4. My son, Jack even wrote up a little tr http://www.supertopo.com/tr/Spire-4/t10809n.html. He got a little scared and had thoughts about going down, but he eventually made it to the top. The pride I saw in him when we got home and he told his mom what he had done was priceless. For those wanting to climb with their kids the BH Needles are absolutely spectacular with hundreds of routes up to a few pitches that reach great summits. There are many very exciting routes starting at 5.0 and going up from there. Great job getting to the top Makayla.

From one Dad to another, that's SUPER inspiring, man what a day out that must have been.

My daughter is 8 and already I dream of when our cragging turns into multi-pitching, don't want to rush it and scare her away from climbing altogether so I'm patient.

Thanks for sharing!
