Johnny Vegas, Wedding climb

October 27th was an incredible day for myself and my new wife.
Back in May of 2012 we decided that our wedding vows would be exchanged in a place that held a special place in our hearts. The first place we could think of was Red Rock, and so the planning began...
On our first visit to Red Rock together we had climbed Johnny Vegas and have always loved the route, that would be our climb! Knowing the logistics of the ledge before starting Solar Slab and the fact that there are three moderate routes right there, we chose our rope teams. There would be six groups of two, twelve people total. Two groups on Beulahs Book, two on Johnny Vegas and two on Solar Slab Gully. We would all meet at the top and have our special day.
I was amazed at 5:30am that everyone had made it and was on-time! Considering that this is a popular area and the weather was perfect, we needed to start early. We hoped to be first in line for the routes, climb quickly and stay ahead of any other parties. All of our groups made it to the ledge at 500 feet within 1.5 - 2 hours, nothing compared to El Cap speed acsents, but we were happy with the time!
Everyone made it to the ledge and most changed clothes for the occasion. We had our moment in time; our love for each other and our love of climbing. We exchanged our vows in the presence of some of our best friends. This is the way we'd envisioned our wedding day and our incredible friends helped us with making it happen.

How cool! I know that John Rosholt (Johnny Vegas) would be proud. This climb was put up in honor of him, he always wanted to put up lines that people loved to climb. You guys climbed to love!

It was a great day, Joe. Incredible that we had the entire ceremony time without any other climbers coming up to disrupt it. Glad to be a part of this historic event.

Cosmic,
Devil's Punchbowl, I went there last year with my wife for the first time, cool place geologically but man! talk about choss! I was bouldering up about a 35 ft low angle slab and almost every hold was breaking off as I used it. My wife had to turn away and said "come find me when you're done or you need to call for a stretcher".

Cosmic,
I guess it must have been the "old" area. When we got to the bottom of the trail there was this crazy looking thing hanging over us (hard to tell from the angle I took this photo but that dihedral looking thing is actually severely overhanging). You can see part of the aforementioned slab on the lower right.

Thanks Dick, it was such a great day! So glad that we had the area to ourselves when we started and didn't crowd other climbers from doing their climbs. Thank you and Natalie for being a huge part of our day!!
