Woody Appreciation Day In JT

Tia had posted this up on MP
Hey y'all! I wanted to celebrate my Dad (Woody Stark) on his would-be 71st birthday weekend by going out to JTree and climbing some of his ...
Of course there was a line on Double Cross so Tia fired up Sexy Grandma first.
With a route name like that LL LL had, to get on it.
Then on to Double Cross with a salute to dad.
then cruised in bold style that would have made dad proud.
While Double Cross was never one of Woody's favorites it has justifiably stood the test of time as sort of an entry level test piece for Joshua Tree Cracks, with a bold start and a sustained crack wrestling match for the rest of the pitch.
A little work on the 10C Right of Grandma.
The fat old dude stuck to the classic.

It is a nice tribute. Woody is part of the JT spirit; he lives on through his routes and those who get on them.

Thanks for the rad TR, Wendell.
Tia, what a stellar daughter and grate climber Woody raised. Proud.
Her friends are awesome too! Spent the day together with a group of people I'd never met and we had a blast. Stories were shared and we all agreed the climbing community is pretty darn special. lynne

hey there say, TGT,tia, cosmic, locker and all...
thank you for sharing and posting pics of your special memorial...
not only do memorial really tell you something about admiration and love that folks have for a friend, but how much more so A DAUGHTER (or son's) for a father (or mother)... it tells of something special
though childhood years and that 'tricky change' into adulthood that sometimes turns kids bitter...
thank you tia,you have said so much more, that just to honor what we've seen of woody... you've beared an inner heart, too...
god bless... and may your memories spark more lovely thoughts of your dad...
edit:
locker, i love the picture, thanks for sharing...

I love Woody's routes!! Woody was one of the funniest people I never met, I loved his posts!
Burned a few at the Burrito right after he passed with some local bros.
Never knew he had such a beautiful, fit, and athletic daughter.
Sometimes you can tell just by a person's name that you would like them with a name like WOODY what do you think?

Nice, what a great way to appreciate him. Never met Woody, but much appreciate his presence here. Made me laugh more than once! Thanks.
Alas, all I could manage today was cleaning my pool filter! Went for a great little hike with the whole family (kids to grandma) down to Lewis Creek (outside of Oakhurst) on Friday. Something for everyone. Lot of very mossy rocks! A very cool creek. I suppose that will do!

Never got to meet Woody except on this forum. Loved to hear his takes even tho he could be a bit testy. Thanks Tia and company for a great weekend of climbing and remembering.
We humans don't last long physically, but we seem to last forever when someone loves us and remembers us. Hope yo all who knew Woody in any way continue to remember him.
It's kinda crazy special in this life that the death of one person, their leaving of this planet, can create, generate new spaces and relationships with new people. Life doesn't just go on .... it creates and continues to do so on a variety of levels.
Live, Love, Experience......

Tia,
Beautiful blog. I commented but don't know if the post went thru. But I'm all for making it a yearly event. It will inspire me to keep in (better) shape.
Thanks for the kind words. You along with Sheila and Rita are my new best cheerleaders. I hope to do yo proud. lynnie
Edit: glad to hear your feeling better. You really had Wendell and I worried. As said before, you have a great crew of friends. It was a blessing to see them in action taking care of you. :D

I never got to meet Woody, but I still cruise all of his right-wing websites like Rantburg. He was political, and quite historical. That's what I got from him here, and I will carry that on for him.
Glad to see Tia getting out with Wendell and Lynne. He loved climbing as much as discussing politics/history.
I really miss him too. But I will carry on his roll here as the resident right-wing conservative who doesn't even really like Republicans.
Miss ya, Woody. God bless you! And thanks to Tia, Wendell, Lynne, and Locker. I know you must miss him even more than me, but I dunno, I never met the guy and I find myself thinking about him sometimes.
Never forget. He was a good guy.
