Lake Tahoe Bouldering, California, USA
Approach time: 10 seconds
Season: May-November Number of problems: 32 Type of rock: Granite Overview
Got the barn door blues? Come here and hone your frog-sitting, swing-fighting, foot-swapping arête skills to perfection. These 12 boulders just minutes off Highway 50 provide 30 problems from VB to V7, mostly on arêtes or prows. Some of the problems lean toward highballing without quite crossing the line. If you do come off, good landings will keep your fingers the only things getting sprained. Known locally as the Berkeley Boulders, though Berkeley camp is a mile from here. It is also known as the Bower Boulders. This is one of the better mid-summer areas, as Echo Pass often has cooler temperatures than the basin. Notable Bouldering Problems
